Mechanical engineering

Mechanical engineers provide technical support and quality management in the design, evaluation, procurement, modification and installation of mechanical equipment and systems for oil and gas drilling rigs and facilities. They also provide technical support for the operating and maintenance functions required for the reliable, efficient and safe operation of energy facilities.

Mechanical engineers also might conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operations or performance of equipment, components or systems in energy sector.

The role involves providing technical expertise across projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to safe and efficient operations.

Core responsibilities

Exploration and production, Oil and gas services, Oil sands, Pipelines, Offshore, Carbon capture, utilization and storage, Emissions reduction, Engineering, design and procurement, Start-up and commissioning, Geothermal, Wind

Design and development: Create and evaluate mechanical systems for drilling rigs, processing plants, and other facilities.

Operations and maintenance: Provide technical support for the reliable and safe operation of mechanical equipment.

Quality and safety management: Ensure all mechanical components and systems meet high standards for safety, efficiency, and reliability.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with mechanical equipment to minimize downtime and optimize performance.

Compliance: Ensure that designs and operations adhere to strict industry and environmental regulations.
